Anthony Mabry born June 18, 1984 to Gussie and Billy Mabry in the Fort Greene area of downtown Brooklyn. He has four brothers and two sisters. In which they all have a very strong bonds and connections to each other. Anthony is very well-known and friendly from his youth years to his adult years.
As a child Anthony attended quite a few elementary schools such as P.S. 46, 287 and graduated from P.S. 67 and went onto J.H.S 265 then got promoted onto Automotive High school. He enjoyed playing video games and listening to music with his brothers and sisters as a kid. He was a very popular kid, known for his great personality and well sense for fashion. At the age of six he had to deal with two very devastating deaths which impacted him in very negative way. First the death of his grandmother (his mother’s mother) knowing that he would never feel her warming hugs and kisses again destroyed him. She was more like his mother then grandmother. Secondly was a very close cousin in which he had to witness his death right before his eyes. Whenever he began to hurt his escape goat was for him to run to his room and express his hurt and pain through his music and lyrics.
Before Anthony found his talent and passion for rhyming and writing lyrics, basketball was a major hobby to him. He would express and show his skills on the basketball court in the middle of Fort Greene projects with siblings and close friends. A little later in life he began to write not knowing and discovering how good he is at rhyming. His biggest inspiration was rapper Jay-Z. He loves the feeling of being able to write and share his life story with the world. It thrills him to know there are people out there that loves, enjoy and can relate to his music.
At the age of thirteen a close cousin gave him the nickname ATL and told him “I know one day you’re going to make it big, and this will be your stage name” so he accepted it, but at the age of thirteen is where his life made a turn for the bad.
At thirteen years of age his parents brought a house in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn to get their children out of the dangerous environment of the projects. In which everyone thought it would be a happily ever after. Until the day came and his younger brother ran away from home and ran back to Fort Greene. A week went by and his brother never returned home, so Anthony felt it was in his best interest to go looking for his brother in Fort Greene. When he got there, there his brother was sitting in the projects on the bench. He then felt the need to ask him “hey what you doing out here on the bench” and his brother replied “selling drugs for cuz” he then tried his best to pursway him from selling drugs but his brother was not convinced. So being as though he didn’t trust the streets, and didn’t want to leave his brother out there alone he began selling drugs with him. This became his first taste of crime.
Years later at the young age of sixteen Anthony was arrested and charged to a ten years sentence for numerous of crimes. During his incarceration he earned his GED and a trade in electrician. That’s where he also discovered that his talent for rhyming and writing lyrics was something major and that it may be his way out of the life style he was living. From mesh hall to yard battles he really began to dedicate himself to it. Upon his release an acquainted of his introduced him to the studio, in which he was able to experience what it really felt like to master his lyrics in the booth and have been recording ever since.
After his return home he did return to the streets, not to sell drugs but to just simply enjoy his freedom. Partying and basically catching up on life in which he missed out a lot on. Approximately one year later he met the first woman he fell in love with. This is now his manager and the mother to his beautiful daughters Loyalty Antoniah Anaya Mabry, Harmonie Skye Mabry & step-son J'khari Jackson.
His focus in life now is to build a strong and unbreakable empire and movement to give his family and himself a better living then he did growing up as a child. He states his way to do so is through his music. So on that note he can’t and won’t stop for nothing or no one!
